This is my favorite CD.
Beethoven Symphony No.9 "CHORAL"
When I was a sophomore, the choir i attened happened to have the chance to perform it in the National Concert Hall. I can still recall that we formed a huge choir (more than 100 people) and prepared it for months. Practicing with an orchestra is really a special experience, especailly when you're not a musician. It was a big work to cooperate with so mamy instruments. And because the orchestra is in front of us, no matter how lound we sang, it just seemed to be to weak. However, we made it!
Nevertheless, this is not the reason why i consider it my favorite piece. It is the story behind the composition that touches me most. In the beginning of Presto, all instruments plays at the same time and compose a powerful melody. It represents the France after the Revolution. Nothing settled. Everything troublous. Then the cello comes out, saying that it is not the world he want. However, what answered him was still the troublous society. Again, the cello wishing for a new world.
